Objectified design project
For this piece, I took inspiration from designer Karim Rashid in the documentary. His form of design reminded me of a modern twist of 70s style and culture with the vibrant colour choices and wavy shapes. His design style presents a more childish and fun feeling to the rooms they are placed in. My couch design includes modern shapes with the sharp geometric backing whilst also combining a sense of comfort with the rounded cushioning on the rest of the body. By combining these two opposing elements; both the soft and harsh edges, it creates a more whimsical effect to an otherwise bland piece of furniture. Instead of using bright colours like Rashid does, I opted for more pastel and muted colours to offer a sense of homeyness and comfort.
